My mom is better than your mom. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Okay, okay. I realize this is all relative (pun intended), but I really do have the best mom.
Tomorrow is Noah’s 10th birthday party. And it’s kind of a big deal. Because he’s kind of a big deal. Duh. I am in my extremely busy time at work and then have been coming home every night trying to get the house party-ready. Knowing I’m stressed and exhausted, my Mom offered to come over and help me prep for the party.
On the surface, perhaps this doesn’t seem like a big deal. But it is. She’s willing to come over, even though she too has had a busy week with work and other goings on. But more importantly, it IS a big deal, because it is time I get to spend with her. One is never too old to be making memories with her Mommy.
And I still learn from her, which is even cooler. Whether it is secret tips on how to keep fruit fresh in the fridge longer (sounds like a tongue twister!) or how to give of yourself to others so selflessly out of love. She is the perfect teacher for me. She is the strength at my side and the wind at my back.
Thank you Mom for all that you have taught me since I was a chubby cheeked, fair haired toddler. You continue to teach me grace and courage, love and honor, and best of all – you taught me how to never, ever take myself too seriously.
I am blessed to not only call you my Mom, but to also call you my friend.
With Love and Gratitude.
