I love cupcakes. Who doesn’t? Seriously. If you’ve been reading my blog since the beginning, you know I’m planning a party for myself for my 40th. And so you know what that means…more cupcakes!
Today I went to the new cupcake shop in town called Nadia Cakes. They’ve only been open a few weeks and had lines around the block at their Grand Opening. With all that hoopla, I just had to go see what all the buzz was about.
Noah and I walked in with the intention of each getting a cupcake. Ha. Next thing I know, we are are each taste testing six, yes six, cupcakes. Really, how could we pick just two? With flavors available today like Salted Caramel, Lemon Drop, Fresh Strawberry, Vanilla Vanilla, Vanilla Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Red Velvet, Oreo…and so on. Plus, I keep seeing that quote posted everywhere that says ‘Keep Calm, Have a Cupcake’. And I didn’t have a very calm day – so I had to have a cupcake to make me calm. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
After we tried the cupcakes, I asked one of the staff about how I should go about putting an order in for my party and what the options were for both cupcakes and a cake.
“Well, the cake will be a problem. That requires a consultation and we are booked out til middle October for cake consultations. However, for the cupcakes, we just need a 48 hour notice and a minimum dozen order.”
Holy cupcakes!! Cake consultations booked out through October?! What the heck. Guess it’s a good thing I was leaning heavily towards the cupcakes anyway. The way I see it, this is better, because I can then pick multiple flavors. Oh yeah.
“Ma’am, do you know what flavors we offer for the cupcakes?”
Good thing I was surrounded and distracted by cupcakes…because I didn’t notice right away that he called me ma’am. Hmph.
“No, I don’t know the flavors”.
“Here you go,” he says, handing me a pretty pink sheet, with printing on both sides.
Again, holy cupcakes. They have 133 different flavors! How the hell am I going to select a couple of flavors? They all look fabulous! If only I had 133 people coming to my party, so I could order one in each flavor. Ha.
Guess I’ll just have to keep coming back to the cupcake shop to try all of the items on their menu. Huh. What a bummer. In the mean time, I’m counting down the hours until I can have another cupcake. Noah here, well he’s recovering from a cupcake coma. Poor kid.
