Alright, here’s the dealio folks. For the last 4 days, I’ve had a cumulative 18 hours of sleep. I’m running on fumes here. So once again, I’m trying to make a post short and sweet, all the while hoping it still has some entertainment value. I’m in New York City (as you may know from a previous post) attending the BlogHer conference on behalf of Best Buy. The prep leading up to this and the work during it is grueling and incredibly fun – all at once. I’ve been able to spend the day with an amazing group of witty, intellectual and incredibly funny women, which made the day awesome.
Because of my sheer exhaustion and my energy tank running so close to ‘E’, my posts the next few days may be short and sweet, but will capture some of the fun times being had in the Big Apple. This arrangement really suits me better than it suits you. I’ve been so blessed to have many kind comments and facebook posts from many of you that you love the blog and want me to “keep ’em coming”. Thank you so much for those comments. They mean more than you know and provide doses of inspiration to keep it going, just when I needed them most. But right now, I need sleep even more.
Sooooo…take a peek at the recap of our day (some names have been changed to protect the innocent). And while you are doing that, I’m getting my next five hours of sleep.
- Nearly 6am, coworker Alice has an acorn fall on her head, while sitting outside her home waiting for a cab to take her to the airport. Random.
- Just after 11am, pilot decides to pull a right side wheelie (where it seemed like the plane was only on its right wheels at a 45 degree angle) as we are landing at La Guardia
- Just after 11:30am, Heather (no need to change my name – I’m not one of the innocent) uses the restroom at La Guardia and gets trapped in a stall. Mind you, in was probably only 5 seconds I couldn’t get the lock on the door unstuck, but I was already formulating escape plans that avoided crawling on the bathroom floor at an NYC airport
- About 11:45 – taxi driver can’t figure out where our hotel is and how to get us there
- Around 12:30 Coworkers Heather, Alice, Nina and Lexi head to lunch. They are so famished they order THREE pizzas (suffice it to say, our eyes were bigger than our mouths – for once)
- Almost 5pm, Alice attempts to check into her room, only to find people already in her room, who had also just checked in … Whaaaat? AWKWARD
- Roughly 7pm, cab driver #2 of the day cannot find our dinner location (a place that has been around for 15 years, mind you)
- Call it 10:30pm Dinner ends, me and the lovely ladies I mentioned earlier hoof it back to the hotel, avoiding any more cabs for the day
I’m likely missing some other hilarity that ensued between my waking time at 4am and now. But I’ve almost been awake for 24 hours. So I’m calling it a day. Stay tuned for more adventures from the concrete jungle.
Cheers!
